In order to access and use the equipment in the Science Resource Shop (SRS), users must complete the required safety training courses including WHMIS 2015 (SO2017) and Science Resource Shop Orientation courses on Learn
The SRS Safety Orientation course is accessed by logging in to Learn and selecting Self Registration from the menu at the top of the page. Then select and enroll in the course labelled Science Resource Shop Orientation and WHMIS 2015 (SO2017).
- Before starting a project, users must take an introductory machining safety course with the Shop Supervisor on the equipment that will be used.
Only closed toed practical footwear may be worn in the shop at any time.
The Shop Supervisor provides consultation to users on their projects and helps with machining, soldering, brazing, etc.
The shop's inventory of tools includes: milling machines, lathes, drill presses, band saw, waterjet, 3d printers and various hand tools.
