- Setting a bold, forward-looking vision for Waterloo’s future: President Goel positioned Waterloo for the future through Waterloo at 100, Global Futures, and new institutional values.
- Advancing reconciliation, inclusion, and a stronger sense of belonging: He championed Indigenization, equity, and inclusion, driving meaningful progress toward reconciliation and inclusive excellence.
- Strengthening partnerships to tackle local and global challenges: Vivek fostered collaboration across disciplines and with business, government and community partners to address global challenges and enhance Waterloo’s impact locally and internationally.
- Transforming campus for sustainability, health, and community: He advanced sustainability and launched an innovative Campus Plan, including a new regional hospital on north campus.
- Leading with integrity through unprecedented challenges: President Goel led the institution through the pandemic, sector-wide financial instability, and a period of geopolitical shifts and unrest that was felt by the university community.
