Congratulations on such an impactful term as UWaterloo's President and Vice-Chancellor. On a personal note, thank you for your unwavering support of the work the AFIWs do in the UWaterloo ecosystem. Best wishes as you transition to your next adventure!

Marc Jerry — President and Vice-Chancellor, Renison

I am sooo happy that you were president during the pandemic!!! :-)

Lannois Carroll-Woolery — Senior Manager, Data Analytics and Reporting

Thank you for your leadership and dedication to fostering a true student‑first environment at Waterloo—your commitment to connecting across departments and people have made a lasting impact. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter.

Tara Campbell — Employee

You arrived when we needed you most! Your vast experience in public health, policy and university leadership was the trifecta of success that UWaterloo needed during the pandemic. Your calm thoughtfulness and razor-sharp insights allowed us to chart a new course (Global Futures framework) that separated us from the pack. I have had the pleasure of working on a few projects under your purview and you have always elevated the outcome with your thoughts and enthusiasm. I hope you get to kick back and enjoy life with your family and watch the seeds you planted at UWaterloo come to life.

Angela Pause — Employee, Alum, Donor, Community member

Thanks very much for your leadership through a series of difficult situations — from COVID, to the violence on campus, to the encampment, and the budget crisis. Your steady guidance was welcome throughout those challenges. Your legacy at Waterloo, for me, will include three really important outcomes. Certainly, Waterloo can now credibly say that we are demonstrating genuine leadership on reconciliation. That would not have happened without you.

You also brought to Waterloo a foresight that had been lacking. You asked us not to think in 5 year periods, but to set a long-term vision, and put in place those structures necessary to achieve it. Finally, you reminded (and redirected) us that Waterloo is, at its heart, an institution founded on impact to communities, both locally and globally. Given the alignment of my work with this philosophy, your attention to advancing outcomes for the well-being of society truly resonated with me. Your only weakness, as a leader, I think, was your affection for hyperloop technology... :)

Best wishes to you and your family in the future. I wish you all the happiness you richly deserve.

Jeff Casello — Former Associate Vice President GSPA, Professor

As your time as President and Vice-Chancellor draws to a close, I would like to express the sincere gratitude from Waterloo's Human Resources team. Your visionary leadership, particularly through the Waterloo at 100 framework and the Global Futures, has left a lasting mark on our campus, positioning the University for long-term success.  Over your term, you have also greatly shaped our employee experience by consistently prioritizing a more inclusive and values-driven workplace—one that focuses on health and well-being and being “One Waterloo.”  You have always valued the human element behind our institutional achievements, and your collaborative spirit will be deeply missed. Thank you, Vivek, for your outstanding service and leadership; we wish you the absolute best in your next chapter.

Lisa Yuhasz — Interim Chief Human Resources Officer

President Goel has been a pleasure to deal with over his term. Quiet, kind, and thoughtful - he is a president that I looked forward to interacting with. Every time I was organizing an international delegation or agreement signing, he was wonderful to deal with. His quiet praise or guidance was always well received. As an example of impact, the relationship with our strategic partners at the University of Twente saw President Goel engage with Twente's President Vinod Subramaniam on multiple occasions and their relationship building helped ensure the partnership remained strong and supported across our institution. Thank you for your leadership!
