Move-in Day Tips

  • Don’t worry about getting everything unpacked and decorated on day one! We recommend working on this project throughout the first week as you get more familiar with your new space.
  • Pack light. Students often bring a lot more then they need to university and regret it when moving in and out. We recommend you bring the basics and figure out what you need as you go along.
  • Take some time to get to know the upper year student leaders and welcome crew! They’re great and here to help you.
  • Do not miss beginning of term meetings! These meetings are an essential tool in your transition to residence life and are packed with important information.
  • Pack efficiently! While there will be student leaders helping you get your stuff up to your room, you want to avoid things being too heavy or having a lot of lose items.
  • Leave your door open as you unpack so you can meet your neighbours and floormates!

Early Move-in and Late Move-in

Early Move-in

Early move-ins are only accommodated under extenuating circumstances such as out-of-province travel, varsity athlete training, or student leader training. Due to building use and maintenance requirements.

If you are arriving in advance you will need to find alternative accommodations and St. Jerome’s will not be able to support this process.

All early move-in requests must be submitted using the “Early Move-In Request Form” on eRezLife.

Late move-in

If you are not able to arrive on your scheduled move-in day, you must complete the “Late Arrival Form” found on eRezLife.

All residents are provided up to a week after move-in day to arrive. Failure to notify St. Jerome’s of your late move-in via the “Late Arrival Form” will forfeit your spot in residence and you can be held financially responsible for the full residence fee for all contracted terms.

Late arrival past the first week of the term is not permitted expect under exceptional circumstances and explicit approval from the Residence and Community Life Team. You much complete the “Late Arrival Form” on eRezLife to start the process.

Orientation Week

We have planned exciting residence-specific orientation programming to help you get settled into your residence life. Sessions are offered for first-years, upper-years and mixed first and upper-years.

St. Jerome’s residence orientation programming complements the main campus programming. As a St. Jerome's student, you are invited to attend both St. Jerome's programming and Waterloo faculty programming. The first few days before classes start are packed full of fun, and we encourage you to participate as much as you are able.

Keep an eye on your Waterloo email for more details about St. Jerome’s orientation activities as they are sent out.

Review policies and procedures

Before arriving at St. Jerome’s and moving into residence, students are strongly encouraged to review the residence contract and the St. Jerome's Residence Handbook, both of which are included in your residence offer email.
