Student Advisors
At St. Jerome’s University, co-registered students, Sexuality, Marriage, and Family (SMF) Studies students, and Health Humanities students will benefit from our on-site Student Advisors. Our advisors are available by appointment and during drop-in hours to provide support and guidance on the following:
- Goal setting and action plans
- Academic program requirements, majors/minors
- Course enrolment, overrides, petitions
- Co-op, service-learning
- Connecting with campus resources and supports
- Getting involved and volunteer opportunities
- Future planning (careers and graduate studies)
- Identifying and navigating obstacles
- University policies and regulations
In-person drop-in advising
- In-person drop-in advising is available every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning January 7 in the winter term.
- John's office: Sweeney Hall 1014A
- Britt's office: Sweeney Hall 1017
- Drop-in advising location may occasionally change to an alternate location. Please check the advisor's whiteboard outside their office for updated information.
Online advising with John
- Online drop-in advising is available every Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Microsoft Teams beginning January 7 in the winter term.
- Log onto Microsoft Teams
- Through the chat function in Teams, look up John Arnou and send a message notifying John that you want to connect for drop-in advising.
- John will reply to confirm availability and preference for a Microsoft Teams video call or a phone appointment.
Peer Academic Leaders
Peer Academic Leaders are current upper-year students that can support you with:
- Building effective study habits
- Provide tips for exam preparation
- Offer advice on declaring your major
- Guidance on career options
From campus events to study sessions and workshops, our Peer Academic Leaders provide mentorship to all incoming co-registered first-year students. Contact our Peer Academic Leaders by email at sjupals@uwaterloo.ca.
Wellness supports
At St. Jerome’s University, co-registered students or students in residence will have access to and benefit from our on-site Wellness Coordinator. Our stepped-care approach to wellness involves both preventative and proactive support – including the individual's physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects.
Our Wellness Coordinator provides guidance and access to the following:
- Confidential wellness coaching
- Connecting you to wellness supports across campus
- Peer support and drop-in programming in collaboration with the Well-link Lab
