Biography

I am a newly appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies (SMF). I have pursued my undergraduate and graduate studies in sexology at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), where I have received interdisciplinary training in both research and intervention on human sexuality. I have learned to integrate theoretical and empirical work from various disciplines such as social psychology, communication, sociology, history, and philosophy. Interdisciplinarity is central to both my research and teaching.

My research centres on relationship diversity, functioning, and development. My work specializes in non-couple (“casual”) sexual relationships (e.g., one-night stands, friends with benefits, casual dating), but I have also worked on couple relationships (e.g., monogamous and consensually non-monogamous). I have also worked on various sexuality-related topics such as HIV, contraception, and sexual violence. My research experience covers a variety of qualitative and quantitative designs (e.g., cross-sectional and longitudinal), data collection methods (e.g., online surveys, semi-structured interviews, and audiovisual material), and data analysis methods (e.g., latent class analysis, grounded theory). I have also been a research reviewer and expert contributor in preparing the French-Canadian adaptation of the textbook Our Sexuality (Nos Sexualités, third and fourth editions). Correspondingly, I teach introductory courses on human sexuality, research methods, and statistics. In both my research and teaching, I try to meaningfully weave theory, empirical research, social critique, and practical considerations.

In my free time, I enjoy exercising (e.g., weightlifting, biking, martial arts), reading fantasy novels, playing retro video games, and food (a lot).
