Every email, notification and social media post contribute to our students’ experience navigating their University career, their perceptions of care and belonging, and instilling trust that have the information they need when they need it.
Communication plays a critical role in how students interact with the university. We can continue to positively shape the student experience, not by communicating more but by communicating more intentionally. Student feedback remains a key input into how the University of Waterloo evolves its communication practices to better support the student experience.
The 2025 Student Communications Survey indicates that overall student satisfaction with University communications is consistent with results from 2021Â and 2023. Students generally perceive communications as clear, caring, and appropriately timed, with few statistically significant shifts across the years.
Important audience specific gaps remain between undergraduate and graduate students, and domestic and international students. The findings suggest that while the overall volume and tone of communications are appropriate, targeted differentiation by audience remains an opportunity for improvement.
