One of the most valuable ways you can guide a student is to point them in the right direction when they need help. Often, they don’t know what they need or where to look.
If you come across students who are struggling with learning and study skills, the first thing you can encourage them to do is book a Peer Success Coaching appointment. This program is accredited by the Canadian Tutor Standards and is a great first step for students having difficulty with their studies. Upper year undergraduate and graduate students meet individually with students to uncover their challenges. Then, they provide students with personalized solutions including new study techniques, note-taking strategies and time management tools.
