SDSN Canada is pleased to announce that Chris Bell has been selected as SDSN Canada’s first Youth Network Coordinator. The Youth Network Coordinator is a position initiated by SDSN Youth, SDSN’s official youth division working to empower youth globally to create sustainable development solutions.
As the Youth Network Coordinator, Chris will develop and implement a strategy for young people across Canada to engage with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and make an impact in their communities. His duties include coordinating the SDG Student Program, managing a growing network of engaged young Canadians, and leading SDG themed local projects and campaigns.
A leader in the student co-operative movement, Chris believes in the power of young people and local communities to promote progress towards the SDGs. He brings with him extensive experience organizing youth around sustainability initiatives throughout Canada and the world, most recently working with the UN Major Group on Children and Youth to advocate for meaningful participation and engagement by young people in United Nations processes. Chris also represents Canadian student- and youth-led co-operatives on the Board of Directors of the North American Students of Cooperation, where he raises SDG awareness and promotes tangible, youth-led and community-based solutions to local sustainability challenges.
Chris is currently a graduate student at the University of Waterloo’s School of Planning.
Welcome to the SDSN Canada team Chris!
