Held during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Together|Ensemble was Canada’s first online all-of-society conference devoted to tracking progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event brought together an impressive mix of over 100 speakers in more than two dozen sessions for an audience of 1,400 attendees.

The Together|Ensemble conference report is now available. It captures the diversity of conversation and work showcased throughout the conference and reflects on the important opportunity that the coronavirus pandemic presents to catalyze massive action towards meeting the SDGs. The conference report highlights the breadth of SDG activity across Canada, the challenges, and above all the commitment and need for collaborative action with equity at the heart of all of our work.

It is clear that the coronavirus pandemic is a moment of reckoning in Canada and throughout the world. We find ourselves with an opportunity to ‘build back better’ by reconfiguring the systems limiting progress on Agenda 2030 to chart bold new pathways forward to achieve the SDGs.

As we’d hoped, Together|Ensemble 2020 was a dynamic national check-in on our collective effort towards achieving the SDGs. The conversations reflected in this report are but one more reminder of the extraordinary and creative collaboration that is required.

Together|Ensemble 2020 was the third, since 2017, in a series of symposia and conferences of Canada’s diverse and growing all-of-society community dedicated to achieving the SDGs. The 2020 event was co-hosted by SDSN Canada, the Waterloo Global Science Initiative, and Université Laval.
