The Globe and Mail article is based on research conducted on Canadian police departments and illuminates how the police handle matters of sexual assault. In particular, the analysis is drawn from important research done by Linda Light and Gisela Ruebsaat, two researchers in BC who did a lot of work on this subject ten years ago only to have their findings not published under then Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Also, provided is information about Waterloo Regional Police, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The OPP have one of the highest rates of unfounded sexual assault cases of any police department in Canada - it 34%.
