The Box of Seven Faces was written and produced under a special commission for the Junior League Organization of Monterey, California. It was first presented as part of the 1965 Children's Theatre Season of the Jr. League, touring to 20 different communities in Monterey County.
The Box of Seven Faces was rewritten to its present version in 1969 when the play was produced by White Oaks Theatre Company as part of their 1969-1970 Repertory Program. During the 9 month season, the play was presented for 183 performances all over California from Sacramento to San Diego.
Several plays by Playwright Gale Peterson have been produced by the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and various off-Broadway companies in New York.
