Godspell 1999 | Theatre Production Archive

The University of Waterloo’s Drama Department teamed up with this region’s fastest growing theatre company, Waterloo Stage Theatre, and produced the smash hit musical, GODSPELL, the fifth and final production of the Waterloo Stage Theatre’s second season.

A co-production gave both The Waterloo Stage Theatre and the UW’s Drama program opportunities that may not have been possible otherwise. Most of the technical aspects of the production was handled by the University, including set design, set construction and stage management. Many students experienced the chance to work in a professional theatre environment for an extended run.

This collaboration, the first for The Waterloo Stage Theatre, was very exciting for Steve Roth, general manager of the renovated movie house in Uptown Waterloo. “The University of Waterloo’s Drama program has always been hailed as one of the best and we are very delighted for this opportunity.”
