February 7 & 8, the Drama Department of the University of Waterloo staged Dennis Foon's play, Liars. Liars dean with the issues of alcohol abuse in the home. The show is recommended for students in grades 6 to 11.
Lenny and Jace are a pair of teenagers who in spite of certain differences are attached to each other. But things grow complicated when its is revealed that both have parents who are alcoholics. With considerable craft - for instance, the skillful use of life-sized dummies - the author has given us a play of not only harrowing intensity, but of compassion.
