David Mamet's OLEANNA was the most controversial play of the past two seasons. As one London reviewer wrote, "It demonstrates the pernicious workings of political correctness with almost clinical precision while showing how an apparently reasonable man can indeed become the violent monster of feminist demonology. The play will trouble the memory of all who see it like an itching aching scab." The play, a two-hander, is about a student, Carol, who comes to the office of her professor, John, because she needs help with his course. She subsequently brings a charge of sexual harassment against him. It is appropriate that the play was seen on a university campus, the place about which it was written.
