Jack Heifner's award-winning comedy tells of three young women - Kathy, Mary and Joanne - and their journey from adolescence to adulthood. The play begins in 1963, shortly before high school graduation. The second act is set in their college sorority house immediately prior to their 1968 commencement. The third and final act is set in New York, 1974, years after they have seen one another.
Vanities is about how we change and how our youthful dreams and idealism don't always match the people we become. The writing is witty, warm and human. In its initial New York run, Vanities became the longest-running non-musical in Off-Broadway's history.
