Office of the Vice-President, Administration and Finance

The Vice-President, Administration and Finance (VPAF) leads the University of Waterloo’s administrative, financial, and operational portfolios in support of its academic mission and long-term sustainability. Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the VPAF provides strategic advice and operational leadership to guide the successful planning and implementation of the University’s  priorities. The broad purview of the VPAF portfolio provides oversight of the University’s long-term financial and administrative functions, which include  financial reporting, campus infrastructure and facilities, information technology, risk management, safety and special constable services, human resources, and administrative services that support teaching, research, and community engagement.

Working collaboratively with academic and administrative leaders, the VPAF supports evidence-based decision making and the effective governance of the institution.

Through oversight of campus operations and major initiatives, and in collaboration with academic and administrative leaders, the Vice-President, Administration and Finance helps create a resilient, sustainable, and well-managed University that enables students, faculty, and staff to thrive.
