Background
Mahsa is a MSc student in Public Health and Health Systems in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at University of Waterloo. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management in 2012 and Master of Science in Information Technology Management in 2015. Her research focus was on the application of data mining methods particularly Self Organizing Maps (SOM) as a type of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to develop an expert system for clustering diabetic patients based on their risk. In her thesis she applied SOM as one the novel methods for data visualization techniques along with Classification and Regression Tree (CART) decision tree to extract the hidden patterns. Her current research is on the survival analysis of chronic dialysis patients in a local hospital in the region of Waterloo.
