Planning Class of 1974 Reunion

Join your Planning ’74 classmates and friends for a fun weekend you won’t want to miss! Visit old haunts and the latest in technology incubators, enjoy gourmet food and ride on the ION light rail train. Catch a documentary screening about the Waterloo music scene in the late ’60s and ’70s and meet the producer. And, of course, catch up with your friends and former classmates.

Breakfast and updates from the Dean of Environment

Saturday, June 1, 2024 | 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. | Minto Atrium, Environment 3 and EV3-1408

Check-in, pick up your name tag and enjoy a coffee and breakfast refreshments in the beautiful Minto Atrium of LEED Platinum Environment 3 while you reconnect with classmates, former professors and staff. Then, take a seat in EV3's flagship lecture hall to meet Environment's new dean, Bruce Frayne and learn what's new at your alma mater.


Flight Simulator Training

Saturday, June 1, 2024 | 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. | WISA Sim Lab, EV2-242

Get behind the controls of the ALSIM AL250 flight simulator, which can be reconfigured to represent several types of aircraft used within pilot training, including single-engine, complex single-engine, and multi-engine aircrafts. You'll be guided by Aeronautical Research Coordinator, Rafael Pastorin Repato through a 45-minute live training session and experience first-hand what it's like to  be an aviation student at the University of Waterloo.


Session times are designed for one person but can be shared with another person in your group. Please arrive on time and bring a clean change of shoes for your session. If you are unable to do so, you will be provided shoe covers to wear prior to entering the simulator.


Ecology Lab Activities

Saturday, June 1, 2024 | 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. | Ecology Lab, EV1-135

Relive your days in the Ecology Lab with some fun, hands-on, student-led activities, including: Beeswax Wrap making, Candle making and Bird Feeder making. Take home a useful, sustainable keepsake of Reunion that you made with your own two hands! Open to explorers of all ages.


Tours

Take a student-led faculty tour through the hallways you once called home and see what’s new in the Faculty of Environment. New and familiar stops will include the Ecology Lab, the rooftop gardens, the planning design studio, and of course, the ESS Coffee Shop!
