Democratizing local smart energy systems

Chad Walker, Environment’s most-recent AMTD Waterloo Global Talent Postdoctoral Fellowship recipient, discusses his new research project, An Opportunity for Smart Local Energy Systems to ‘Build Back Better’ in Ontario. Kent Marten (BES ’04) has dedicated his career to making it easier for people and organizations to access and understand spatial data. Over his career Kent has worked with some of the world’s biggest companies on some of the most critical problems in the geospatial industry.

While attending the University of Waterloo, Madeline (Maddi) Leblanc (BES ’19) found a passion for outdoor education. Doing what she loves most, including stand-up paddling (SUP), environmental stewardship, and research, propelled her into a successful master’s thesis research program at Brock University. Today she balances her time studying with teaching stand-up paddling and outdoor education.
