Susan J. Elliott, Professor of Geography, has been appointed to the Federal Food Expert Advisory Committee (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/consult/frac-ccra/index-eng.php).  The Food Expert Advisory Committee (FEAC) was established to provide Health Canada's Food Directorate (FD) with broad expert advice on its regulatory and administrative oversight of foods. It also provides advice on matters relating to strategic planning, priority-setting and environmental scanning of issues related to food safety, nutritional quality or other issues related to the FD's mandate.  Dr. Elliott was appointed to the Committee by the Director General, Karen Macintyre, on the basis of her leadership in Canada, over the past decade, on food allergy research.  As a health geographer, Elliott teaches and researches in the area of global environmental health in GEM at the University of Waterloo (see her lab’s web site here: https://uwaterloo.ca/geographies-of-health-in-place/).
