Activism in Abstract

The power in a paint stroke

Activist art is produced by artists in response to social issues, to promote conversation, raise awareness, and encourage action and change. In Activism in Abstract, we use five primary examples, including M*A*S*H, Imagine, Guernica, Ignorance = Fear, and Terror of War, to examine how activist art can and has greatly influenced society. We encourage visitors to reflect, through questions and creative prompts, on the lens through which they view art and how art has influenced social issues they are passionate about.
