Michael Pope, a chemical engineering professor, is the recipient of $50,000 in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for a facility to house his research into next-generation electrochemical devices.
In an announcement made March 14, Kirsty Duncan, the minister of science, committed more than $23 million in funding for 95 projects at 26 universities across Canada through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund. The fund is designed to help universities attract and retain the best and brightest researchers from around the world by giving them access to cutting-edge research tools.
Pope's research group is developing new materials and processing strategies to fabricate improved, typically nanocomposite, device components to advance technologies in areas such as electrochemical energy storage, energy generation, sensing and separations.
