Adriana Rios Rincon is a collaborator in Lili Liu's Aging and Innovation Research Program. Rios Rincon's research interests are focused on the role of assistive technologies in improving the level of functioning, capacity, and participation in people living with limitations. Her research topics include the development of new low-cost, high-quality assistive technologies; the study of the effects of assistive technologies on the occupational performance, functioning levels, and social participation of people with disabilities including persons living with dementia; and provision models of assistive technologies according to a capability approach.
Rios Rincon's current research is devoted to investigating the use of assistive technologies to assess and promote cognitive skills and engagement in play in individuals with disabilities, mainly those with motor and cognitive impairments including dementia. She intends to understand how technology supports the health and wellness of individuals with disabilities through engagement in play. She is also interested in exploring the functional outcomes that can be improved as a result of technological interventions for promoting engagement in play and leisure.
