Esther Leung is a new graduate from the Therapeutic Recreation program with a Psychology minor. Through her co-op and practicum placements, Leung worked in The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre’s schizophrenia unit, Grand River Hospital – Freeport Site’s specialized mental health unit, and Sunnybrook Veterans Centre’s dementia care and palliative care. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the University of Waterloo’s (UW) Professional Development (PD) program and taught English in Hong Kong.
Leung became involved with the Aging and Innovation Research Program (AIRP) in January 2021 through claiming the UW President Research award with them. She is an AGE-WELL Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP). An aspiring Occupational Therapist, Leung is interested in the novel roles of technology in health care to enhance individuals’ quality of life and independence.
