The Aging and Innovation Research Program (AIRP) focuses on acceptance and adoption of innovations by older adults, their care partners, and health care professionals. Innovations can include technologies, practices, and policies. At present, a large portion of this research program focuses on technologies for assessment and management of risks of going missing in persons living with dementia. This includes the development, application, and evaluation of individual and community level strategies to foster dementia-friendly communities.
Our priorities
- Engage in research that responds to the needs and priorities of persons living with dementia, their care partners, and their service providers in order to make a meaningful difference in quality of life and care;
- Provide high quality training and mentorship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as early career researchers;
- Translate research findings into changes in practice and services by emphasizing knowledge mobilization activities;
- Advance scientific knowledge and contribute to the bodies of scholarly literature pertaining innovations that can improve the well-being of older adults and their care partners in their communities;
- Generate partnerships with persons with lived experiences and their care partners, health and social service providers, first responders, industry members, policy makers, and other researchers in Canada and internationally.
