Abstract: Jana Pavlasek's seminar will explore advancements in distributed inference methods for robotic perception and planning, emphasizing scalable solutions for complex, high-dimensional problems. Her work demonstrates the application of nonparametric belief propagation and Stein Variational Belief Propagation to improve robot manipulation and multi-robot coordination. Additionally, she'll discuss applying these insights to robotics education.
Speaker Bio: Jana Pavlasek is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan, specializing in robotic perception and planning under uncertainty. She has developed core robotics courses and contributed significantly to distributed inference algorithms, supported by her background in electrical engineering and robotics.
