Title: Generative AI for 3D Content: Transforming Virtual Worlds

Date: Thursday, March 7th, 2024

Time: 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Place: DC 1304

Abstract: Jun Gao's seminar will highlight his innovative research on using Generative AI to overcome challenges in creating 3D content for VR/AR, gaming, and the metaverse. His approach integrates 3D modeling techniques and 2D foundation models to produce efficient, realistic, and diverse 3D models. The talk will explore the potential of these techniques in generating relightable, simulable 3D content and their future in enhancing virtual world interactions.

Speaker Bio: Jun Gao is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Toronto, focusing on Generative AI for 3D content. Advised by Prof. Sanja Fidler and working as a Research Scientist at NVIDIA, his work has earned the SIGGRAPH Asia Best Paper award. Jun's research aims to bridge the gap between computer vision, graphics, and machine learning to create immersive 3D worlds.
