Title: Revenue Management Meets Inventory Management
This seminar will explore recent research at the intersection of revenue and inventory management. The first part will discuss the paper "Joint Inventory and Pricing for a One-Warehouse Multi-Store Problem: Spiraling Phenomena, Near Optimal Policies, and the Value of Dynamic Pricing," which examines a retailer's challenge in making initial inventory decisions for a warehouse and subsequent joint replenishment and pricing decisions for multiple stores during a selling season. The study highlights potential pitfalls of simple re-optimization methods, proposes an improved policy combining various control strategies, and emphasizes the importance of dynamic pricing.
