As more companies adopt algorithmic systems and incorporate artificial intelligence into their business plans, they stand to benefit from increased efficiency and powerful data insights. But too many companies lack a complete understanding of how the technology works and its potential risks.

Any algorithmic system can use data to replicate a quantifiable subset of the past, but by relying on data alone, it fails to capture what makes us qualitatively good humans. In many applications, that subset contains unacceptable human behavior, like sexism or racism, that may skew results or wrongfully influence outcomes, no matter how magical it appears on the surface.

Attend CascadAI and Learn to Use AI Responsibly

CascadAI is a forum where companies can come together to engage in a respectful and open-minded fashion to understand social and ethical concerns associated with AI technology development and deployment. Attendees will learn about the potential ethical challenges of AI technology adoption within their organizations, share insights, and exchange best practices across industries.

While many of the principles of Responsible AI translate universally across cultures, we understand that different cities and regions have unique technological, economic, and social needs that require a tailored approach. On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University is partnering with several Canadian organizations across eight major cities to host a day of festivities dedicated to helping companies learn how to implement Responsible AI at CascadAI.

The event includes four main components that we’ll cover throughout the day with keynote speeches and workshops that will teach you how to:

1. Consult your community to understand its needs and deficiencies.

2. Create a plan to begin incorporating Responsible AI into your organization.

3. Commit resources within your organization to execute the changes or steps necessary to make progress.

4. Communicate your progress with peers and at future CascadAI events around the world.
