Donor powers graduate research in embodied AI research

Eight Waterloo graduate students have received $15,000 scholarships funded by a $500,000 gift from the Tang Family Foundation to Waterloo.AI, supporting research in embodied AI, where systems perceive and act in the physical world through sensors and motors. From exoskeletons to intelligent robotics, their work represents the next frontier of AI development, backed by a donor who sees foundational research as the key to future industrial innovation. A second round of scholarships opens this fall.
