International vision science collaboration continuing to 2030
The InnoHK Centre for Eye and Vision Research aims to bring eye and vision research to market through Waterloo-Hong Kong partnership

The University of Waterloo and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have extended their collaboration through the InnoHK Centre for Eye and Vision Research (CEVR) until 2030. This international research hub focuses on developing technologies to prevent, detect, treat, and mitigate vision loss. It has already launched successful projects, including a preclinical testing platform replicating the eye's cellular environment and augmented reality software to assist people with vision impairments. The collaboration also works on innovations such as anti-myopia screens for children and a drug delivery system targeting retinal areas. CEVR aims to create practical, market-ready solutions to enhance eye health globally.
