The University of Waterloo engages thousands of youth through innovative outreach programs, sparking early interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Through camps, workshops, and school visits, young students explore robotics, quantum science, and more in labs like RoboHub and WatiMake. Programs like Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) and Go Eng Girl not only educate but also inspire future students—many of whom return as mentors and instructors. These experiences foster curiosity, build confidence, and support underrepresented communities in STEM. With over 3,000 programs and nearly 100,000 youth reached in five years, Waterloo’s outreach reflects its deep commitment to community impact. Supported by partners like Actua and Let’s Talk Science, these efforts help shape the region’s future innovators while enriching both participants and student volunteers through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
