Arts Alumni Class Notes: Fall 2025

1970s

Charles M. Chambers (BA '76, Sociology) celebrates 50 years since being a player on Waterloo’s basketball team in1975 that won the men's CIAU National Championship. "We [won] after losing one of our best players, Mike Moser. We were undefeated in Canada. I would like to hear from you if you were around. Contact me zorro_charles@hotmail.com."

1990s

Scott Wahl

Scott Wahl (BA '95, English) recently joined League as AVP, Program Management. With over 25 years of experience delivering software for global markets, he brings expertise in release management, localization and engineering processes. Scott is also an active volunteer with Shelter Movers, Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region and Social Venture Partner, recently receiving a Community Award from the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce for his volunteer contributions.

Kem-Laurin Lubin

Kem-Laurin Lubin (MA '99, English) is returning to Waterloo to complete her PhD, a journey that started 20 years after graduating from her UW master’s program. This moment is even more special given that her son begins his own UW journey in 2025, the very year she will finish her PhD. "To share this milestone feels humbling and deeply inspiring. It is a full-circle reminder of how Waterloo shapes not just individuals, but generations. Go Warriors!"

2000s

Erin Brandenburg

Erin Brandenburg (BA '01, Theatre and Performance) recently directed and co-produced "The Wreck of Harold Murphy," a short film which has been accepted as an official selection at the Forest City Film Festival. The film was written and co-produced by Henry Adam Svec and stars musician Ron Leary. Erin is an award-winning director and playwright based in Toronto, known for her multidisciplinary work with Kitchenband and collaborations with Soulpepper Theatre and Why Not Theatre.

Lori Strauss

Lori Strauss (MA '02, German Studies) has received an Ontario Arts Council grant for her new young adult series about Austin, a teenaged boy who loves ballet. When his parents' marriage starts to crumble and he discovers that his frequent "staring spells" are a type of epilepsy, Austin fears his dreams may never come true. Through a unique style of writing, Lori shows readers how Austin's seizures impact his ability to connect with the world around him. 

Paulette Brookes

Paulette Brooks (BA '04, English) is happy to announce that she published her first historical novel inspired by true events. Not Just a Homemaker tells the story of a Scottish immigrant who made her way to Indiana. At the end of her life of ninety-three years, spanning a world war and three continents, Sheila MacGregor created a nature preserve. When in her terse obit, Sheila's life is summarized with the simple phrase "she was a homemaker," a current day librarian vows that Sheila's remarkable story deserves to be told. 

2010s

Arwin Dhringra

Arwin Dhringra (BA '12, Economics) recently started Lunam Partners, a strategy firm that works with companies in Canada and the U.S. on business growth and transformation. He is an Executive Member of the University of Waterloo’s alumni chapter in New York where he helps lead events, panels, and initiatives and mentors students and fellow graduates. Arwin enjoys staying connected to the Waterloo community and contributing to the university’s alumni network through leadership and outreach. 

Rob Williams

Rob Williams (MA '13, English) has recently joined League in August as AVP Product Management Solutions, where he leads product management and solution design for League’s enterprise clients in Canada.

Theresa Shim

Theresa Shim (BA '17, English; MA '18, Rhetoric and Communication Design) has been promoted to Counsel at Sesame Workshop as of July 2025. In her role as Counsel (previously Associate Counsel), Theresa works with the dedicated legal team to support the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street, the beloved children's television show. Theresa's legal work primarily revolves around contract negotiation, drafting, and other transactional and corporate matters that sit between the entertainment and global non-profit work that Sesame Workshop champions.
