WCA-KPL Public Talk - The Fate of our Sun (and Other Stars) - Ana Ennis
The WCA-KPL Astronomy Talk series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, and is jointly organized by the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and Kitchener Public Library.
Stars are born in swirling clouds of gas and dust, from where they embark on journeys that span billions of years. They evolve by fusing elements and radiating light, only to meet diverse, often dramatic, fates. At this month's KPL astronomy talk, Dr. Ana Ennis will speak about the life cycles of stars, sharing the factors that shape their destinies, and explaining what this can tell us about the ultimate fate of our own Sun.
Ana Ennis is a postdoctoral researcher in the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Waterloo, and the Perimeter Institute. Her main astronomical interests are in the formation and evolution of galaxies, as well as smaller structures inside galaxies such as globular clusters. She is also heavily involved in science outreach and science communication, through social media and public astronomy events.
Attendance is free and open to anyone, although we request that you register in advance.
