Perseids meteor shower

Join us to watch the Perseids meteor shower at UWaterloo!

Night sky and telescope on grass
Every August, the Earth's orbit passes through the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle. Fragments of the comet burn up in our atmosphere, leading to the Perseids meteor shower, one of the most prolific shooting star shows of the year.

This year the Perseids will peak on August 12, and to celebrate the WCA is partnering with the Kitchener-Waterloo Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (KW RASC) to run a Perseids sky-watching party!

The evening will start with a short lecture from the WCA's Roan Haggar, followed by a stargazing session on the Columbia Fields at around 8:30pm (weather-permitting!).

This event is totally free and open to anyone -- follow this link for more information and registration.
