Waterloo hosts Ontario-wide galaxy evolution workshop
This week, the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and the Department of Physics and Astronomy hosted the first Galaxy Evolution and Environment in Southern and Eastern Ontario (GEESE-ON) workshop.
Astronomers from across Southern and Eastern Ontario gathered at UWaterloo over two days to discuss their work relating to the science of galaxy evolution. The workshop covered a broad range of topics, focused around star formation, galaxy morphology, the interstellar medium, and galaxy clusters, and included talks from attendees about their own ongoing research, as well as breakout sessions featuring detailed discussions about the future of galaxy evolution.
Over 30 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members attended in total, from universities across Ontario including Waterloo, York, McMaster, and Queen's. Thank you to everyone who came, it was a lot of fun!
