Folders in Confluence! 🗂️

Say hello to Folders in Confluence! 🗂️ This newly available feature offers a straightforward way to organize your content, making it easier than ever to collaborate and stay on top of your projects.

All About Folders: What We Need to Know

Can I Still Use Parent Pages?

Yes, of course! Folders are an added bonus and won’t replace parent pages. You can keep using parent pages to provide context while utilizing folders for simpler grouping.

How Are Folders Different from Parent Pages?

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Folders: Basic containers to group content without extra descriptions.

  • Parent Pages: More detailed containers where you can add context and explanations.

Tip: Parent pages are perfect for knowledge bases or wikis, while folders shine in projects and team spaces.

Can I Turn Folders Off?

Yes, if needed! Space admins can enable or disable folders in their space:

  1. Open your space and go to Space Settings.

  2. Click on Features under "Manage Space."

  3. Use the toggle to turn Folders on or off.

This feature is space-specific and cannot be applied site-wide.

Can I Convert Parent Pages to Folders?

Absolutely! If you want to switch a parent page into a folder, follow these steps:

  1. Open the parent page.

  2. Click the ... menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Convert to Folder.

Don’t worry — the original page is archived, and you can recover it anytime under Space Settings > Archived Pages.

What Happens to Empty Parent Pages?

Empty parent pages or those with only a “Page Tree” or “Child Pages” macro will prompt you to convert them to folders. This feature helps clean up unused pages and simplifies navigation.

Why Use Folders?

Folders are your go-to tool for:

  • Keeping related content grouped together.

  • Streamlining team workflows.

  • Organizing project spaces without unnecessary extras.

Whether you’re managing a project or collaborating on team tasks, folders make it easy to keep everything in order.

Happy organizing! Stay tuned every Friday for new Atlassian updates!
