Restrict Internal Notes to Specific Roles or Groups

A new feature for Jira Service Management. Now, you can restrict the visibility of internal notes based on project roles and groups. 🎉

Sometimes, teams need to have private discussions about customer requests, especially when dealing with sensitive topics. With this new feature, you can keep these conversations confidential among a select few team members, directly within the issue itself, without resorting to email or other tools.

How to Use Internal Note Restrictions

  1. Open an Issue: Navigate to an issue and open the issue view.
  2. Create an Internal Note: Find the comment section and start writing your internal note.
  3. Set Comment Visibility: Click on the Comment visibility button. By default, internal notes are visible to all internal users, indicated by an open lock icon (or 'Visible to all users' for screen readers).
  4. Select Group or Role: Choose the group or role to restrict the comment to and save your comment.

Only the comment creator and the selected group or project role will be able to see this comment, ensuring that your confidential information stays private.

We hope you find this new feature useful!
