Funded by James Leung in memory of his mother Grace Chi Hung Leung.
Eligibility
- Full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Year Four of Software Engineering and undertaking a fourth-year Capstone Design project.
- Selection to be based on projects, that in the opinion of the judges, demonstrate a combination of technical excellence, user engagement and societal impact.
- Award funds will be divided equally among each team member.
- Students receiving OSAP must claim this award as a resource.
- An application is not required.
Value
James Leung will provide five awards valued at $1,000 each. The first selection will be made in Winter 2023, and the second selection in Winter 2024.
Selection process
- Selection will be made by Software Engineering.
- Awards will be announced at the end of the 4B term.
About the donors
James Leung is the proud parent of Wesley, a Software Engineering student. Wesley and his team have represented Waterloo at the International Collegiate Programing Contest (ICOC) competing in the world finals. Wesley will graduate in Spring 2022 and James wants to give back to Waterloo and specifically the Faculty of Engineering in recognition of Wesley's education at Waterloo.
The award is being named in memory of James’ late mother, who had a close relationship with Wesley.
