To showcase the research being done across the Department of Chemistry, CGSS organized a research social with graduate students presenting posters for students, staff and faculty. Thank you to all the presenters and attendees!
On March 26, CGSS and the Faculty of Science hosted Prof. Imogen Coe from Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Coe is an award-winning scholar-activist for her work integrating principles of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) into research cultures in science. Her seminar focused on the benefits of establishing equity as infrastructure to recalibrate the foundations of what is considered excellence in science.
On February 10, CGSS in collaboration with FemPhys hosted our annual Global Women’s Breakfast. Thank you to our speakers Dr. Holly Fruehwald, Dr. Karen Cummings and Carlee Montgomery and everyone who attended to celebrate the contributions of women in STEM and come together as a cross-discipline support network!
To recognize the contributions of graduate students to the research landscape and university community, CGSS hosted a graduate student appreciation lunch on February 2. Congratulations to all the grads for their publications, presentations and other accomplishments this past year!
A great time was had by all who attended yesterday's networking, BBQ, and kickball tournament, hosted by the CGSS in conjunction with the Chemistry Department.
On July 6th, Chemistry graduate students hung out and played board games while enjoying pizza at the Graduate House.
The Chemistry Graduate Student Society (CGSS) and Chem Club joined forces on June 14th to put on a bake sale to raise funds for Spectrum, Waterloo Region’s Rainbow Community Space.
