Coffeehouse has been a staple event hosted by CE2GA for many years, but the waste it generates — through disposable cups, plates and single-use utensils — has significant detrimental effects on our environment. Starting Spring 2019, CE2GA is introducing the Goes Green movement to promote sustainability and reduce waste generated by our events.
As part of this movement, we will no longer be providing cups for beverages at our events. Instead, we urge attendees to bring their own cup, or purchase a CE2GA-themed mug for $8. We will continue to divert waste to green and blue bins when possible, and collaborate with students to promote their use outside of events.
In the future, we hope to expand this campaign by not providing single-use utensils and promoting reusable containers with our caterers.
