Description: Join the City of Waterloo’s Strategic Initiatives division as they outline the City’s integrated approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. This talk will cover a high-level overview of the City’s strategic plans and positioning in this space, as well as a deeper dive into their recently approved Corporate Climate Action Plan. The end of the presentation will focus on the challenges and opportunities with these actions and discussion on potential areas of research collaboration.
SPEAKER BIOS
Speaker: Sandy Little
Sandy is the current Director, Strategic Initiatives at the City of Waterloo. She leads implementation and development of the City’s strategic plan, sustainability and climate change, housing and homelessness, and strategic partnerships. Leveraging more than 18 years of experience, she believes in using big picture thinking to tackle complex community challenges while developing and strengthening strategic relationships within an organization and with external partners to build operational and service excellence.
Speaker: Ena Ristic
Ena Ristic is the City of Waterloo’s Senior Sustainability Officer. Her work includes moving the City of Waterloo towards a more resilient and lower carbon future for both the corporation and community. Her current focus is on integrating sustainability and climate change into all aspects of City operations, from asset management, to community gardens, to financing.
