The Waterloo Climate Institute and Waterloo's North Campus Community Garden (NCCG) share a common interest in exploring the nexus between food production (and eating!) and climate action.
The Climate Institute has recently launched its new Climate Leaders Program for students, and in consultations with students in September, learned that many students also shared this interest and in getting their hands dirty doing some gardening. So, in the spirit of praxis, the NCCG and Climate Institute invited students, faculty and staff out to the garden on Fridays October 6th and 13th over the lunch hour to help out with garden work and enjoy conversation about climate action and food with folks from across campus.
About 12 participants from across campus came out and helped with weeding, spreading compost, moving plants and building a new path. If you missed it, and are interested in getting your hands dirty, keep an eye out for community gardening/climate action events planned for the Spring of 2024
