Artist statement
I wanted to create a logo that reflected the Coastal Zone Canada Conference theme as well as honour all Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island and our connection to creation.
Shé:kon! Hello!
I'm Corrie Hill, a passionate and self-taught artist. I am a member of the Mohawk nation, Bear clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River, currently residing in Brantford, Ontario.
I view art as good medicine that strengthens my mental wellness and as an outlet to showcase my Indigenous pride. My work is deeply rooted in my Haudenosaunee identity, reflecting the strength, beauty, and resilience of my people.
