$1.65 million NSERC CREATE grant supports launch of new biomedical technology graduate program

Catherine Burns, professor of systems design engineering and executive director of the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology, has received a $1.65M Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program (CREATE) grant. Awarded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the grant will help fund a new graduate program, the only one of its kind in Canada, in global biomedical technology research and innovation starting in the fall of 2018. Partners in the program include Grand River Hospital, Starfish Medical, and Synaptive Medical.
