New study finds naloxone is stable in fluctuating temperatures

Researchers at the University of Waterloo have determined that naloxone, the medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, is stable and safe to use at least 28 days after being stored in conditions where temperatures vary.

“This is an important finding because we know that naloxone is not stored the same way as most medications, in a medicine cabinet or indoors,” said Michael Beazely, a professor at Waterloo’s School of Pharmacy.
