NSERC grant supports launch of biomedical ultrasound training program

A Waterloo engineering professor will receive $1.65 million to establish a new biomedical ultrasound training program.

Alfred Yu, professor, electrical and computer engineering, is one of 18 Canadian researchers who are receiving a Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program (CREATE) grant. Awarded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the grant will fund a novel interdisciplinary training program in biomedical ultrasound applications. Geared to graduates and post-doctoral fellows, Professor Yu’s program will cultivate the next generation of career-ready ultrasound experts and further applications in biomedical imaging and therapeutics.

The announcement was made by Kate Young, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Science and Sport, on behalf of Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport at an announcement at Memorial University today.
