Two University of Waterloo researchers are receiving funds to advance policy-relevant climate change science.

Professor Fereidoun Rezanezhad, earth and environmental science, will receive $468,500 over three years to assess the impact climate warming has on winter carbon losses in wetland ecosystem. Professor Sherry Schiff, earth and environmental science, will receive $536,595 over three years to evaluate the changing carbon sinks in subarctic Canada.

The funding was announced today at the University of Victoria. Both projects are funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) through the Advancing Climate Change Science in Canada (ACCSC), an initiative that furthers collaborative efforts among federal scientists and the academic community to advance policy-relevant climate change science that supports the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. ACCSC is also supported by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and Health Canada.
