Workshop: A gentle introduction to quantum key distribution
Date and time: Tuesday July 22, 1–4pm
Location: QNC 4104
Instructor: Devashish Tupkary
In these lecture sessions, we will provide a gentle introduction to quantum key distribution (QKD), a method that uses properties of quantum mechanics to enable two parties to share secret keys. We will cover the basic goals and capabilities of QKD, and outline the main ideas behind security proofs for QKD, and look at what the security definition of QKD achieves. We will also briefly look at how QKD is implemented in practise, and touch upon the current status of efforts towards standardization and commercialization.
